Mal Pais and Santa Teresa Costa Rica boast various top surf spots, from challenging peak breaks and strong waves to easy going surf breaks for beginners. Along miles of fabulous beaches you can explore a new surf spot every day.
Start surfing in Mal Pais, then go to Playa Carmen to surf the beach break, then further north in Playa Santa Teresa you find a point break with more stronger waves. If you want to learn how to surf there is no better place to go than the Mal Pais Surf Camp. Our surf instructors will teach you surf etiquette and the art of surfing in a fun way and you always meet fellow surfers in our hotel to exchange experiences while having a cold beer. Learning to surf is also big fun for the whole family!Surf Lessons start at $75 (includes surfboard and certified instructor). Group rates available upon request.
